The essential oil of Spanish Sage is obtained by steam dragging from the Salvia lavandulifolia, Lamiaceae Labiatae route. It is a species of herbaceous plant, native to Spain and southern Franca where it is found in rocky soil in thickets
It is an evergreen, aromatic, short shrub (30-50 cm). The leaves are petiolated, elliptical or lanceolate (about 3-4 times longer than wide), with quite marked nerves, grayish especially on the underside. The inflorescence has numerous whorls of purple corolla flowers and calyx with five teeth more or less equal.
