Constituents: - Essential oil (0.02-0.2%), consisting mainly of monoterpene aldehydes, such as neral, geranial and citronellal. - Hydroxycinnamic derivatives, including caffeic and chlorogenic acids and, in particular, rosmarinic acid. - Triterpenes: ursolic and oleanolic acids. - Flavonoids. - Cinnamic aldehyde is the main component, also eugenol and cinnamic alcohol. Its aroma is due to the aromatic essential oil that constitutes 0.5-2.5% of its composition. - In less proportion we find trans-cinnamic acid, hydroxycinnamic aldehyde, o-methoxycinnamic aldehyde, cinnamic acetate, terpenes (linalool, diterpene), tannins, mucilage, oligomeric proanthocyanidins, carbohydrates and traces of coumarin. According to RFE, the dry drug must contain at least 12 ml/kg of essential oil. - -phellandrene, carvacol and cinnamic aldehyde: “in vitro”. activity against C. albicans. (including those resistant to Fluconazole) - Polycyclic diterpenes, - Proanthocyanidic oligomers, - Essential oil (5-20 ml/Kg) composed mainly of phenylpropane derivatives: cinnamic aldehyde (65-80%), eugenol (>10%) and acetate of cinnamyl, - It also contains a high number of mono and sesquiterpenes.
