Orthosiphon, also known as "Java Tea," is a herbaceous shrub from the Labiatae family, native to northern Oceania and southeast Asia. Its bluish-white flowers, whose filamentous stamens resemble a cat's whiskers, are striking. It contains, among other substances, mineral salts (mainly potassium), flavonoids (such as sinensetin), flavone glycosides, caffeic acid, and diterpenes.
Properties
Traditionally, orthosiphon has been used as a diuretic and mild spasmolytic (causing an increase in the reduction of water, as well as sodium chloride and urea), in urinary disorders of an inflammatory nature, to perform urinary tract cleansing therapies and as an adjuvant in mild urinary bacterial infections (inhibiting the growth of different microorganisms).

Not recommended for use in cases of kidney or heart failure. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Not described.
